Statement from Willy Worman, Mayor, City of Siletz
November 14, 2025
Sadly, we all see a clear lack of leadership in this county. I keep hearing how much our leaders are doing for us but I challenge that. What are our leaders doing? Truly? What?
I see the commisioners meetings where leaders are shut down and ignored. I see power being given to one commisioner and county council to rule it all.
And those same leaders are posting anti slogans and negativity and miss direction about commisioner miller and DA Wallace. Pictures of them with ? On their faces. Claiming they are acting out. And maybe they are. But hey, who is calling the kettle what here. Because I see this from all sides.
And it’s disheartening to know that our leaders are more interested in fighting with one another than fighting for us.
That's not leadership. That’s antagonism for personal gain.
Why have we allowed this. Why is this looking like the norm. And why do we keep blaming party sides, sexual preference etc. for everything?
I see people weaponizing these things and many people afraid to speak out because they are immediately attacked like “the enemy”. No one is the enemy. Everyone has a right to their opinions. If you want people to be tolerant of your thoughts be tolerant of theirs. It’s a pretty basic childhood teaching.
I am friends with Casey Miller. I want to see him fight. Hard. And no matter the challenge, lead for us. Do not allow this nonsense to make you ineffective. Fight. Miller comes to Siletz often. And is always helpful when called upon.
I have had commissioner chuck out to Siletz to look around and see our challenges. He called me and said, let’s get together in Siletz next week and made it happen. We had great talks and he has reached out many times to offer ideas and helpful solutions.
I don’t conform to all their political beliefs but I still see a chance to work with them and have open comms. I see them both as people that, with the right leadership in front of them, could do us well.
They both have pledged to help my community. And I believe when the dust settles, they will. And if they don’t, I will continue to try and I will hold them accountable as leaders should be held accountable.
I don’t know commissioner Hall well but I have no ill will towards this commissioner. Though I am disappointed. As i pointed out before, Hall and miller both refused to respond to my emails about an appropriate way to fill the then vacant commissioners seat (government to government) and I pointed it out on social media since I could not get a response. Hall publicly denied receiving any correspondence from me. But later privately admitted receiving my correspondence, blaming county council for the lack of response. Saying hall was told not to respond to me by county council.
Really. County council is telling our commission chair not to respond to a local mayor? Not even to tell me “sorry I can’t respond to this hot topic”? If this is fact, we have the wrong people giving our commissioner's council because this is not acceptable.
Likely this was because I pointed out opposing views. But aren’t we supposed to be able to have opposing views.
I was voted in by my city to represent them. Which means working with everyone. Even those I don’t always agree with. And if you know me, you know I do just this. Even when its pains me to do so.
Guess what, our commissioners were voted in to do the exact same job. On an even bigger scale.
My position as Mayor of Siletz is voluntary. But i am proud to serve. Very proud to serve.
Commissioners are not volunteers. They are paid a healthy salary in the 95k to 120k per year range to REPRESENT US, the tax payers. All of us, even when they do not agree with us.
So, why are we not getting represented. And why are so many people OK with this.
I am a 53 year old Lincoln county (Siletz my entire life) resident. I demand more. High taxes should include a high expectation for our representation.
To all of our county leaders: stop the nonsense, step up or step out. You do not have the right to waste our time or money fighting one another.
Put Miller back in his office.
Give DA Wallace the tools she needs to protect us.
Put down the fight and work together.
And do it now. It’s never too late to put your personal petty squabbling aside and let your pride take a back seat and do the right thing. It’s hard but you can do it.
Because right now, none of you are doing the right thing.
Mayor Will Worman
